Zelda, Mario and Co: These Switch games sell like sliced bread
The Switch is still a real console bestseller even 4 years after its release. More than 90 million units of the popular handheld console have now been sold. In the official quarterly figures, Nintendo has now also revealed which Switch games are selling best – and this list has some surprises in store.
Nintendo reveals the 10 biggest Switch bestsellers
On March 3rd, 2017 Nintendo started selling the Switch. Since then have been nearly 93 million handheld consoles discontinued. It is already clear: The Nintendo Switch should soon reach the sales figures of the Wii (101.63 million) and thus snatch the title of the most successful Nintendo home console under the nail.
But what about the game front? Which switch games are among the absolute top sellers of the handheld console? Nintendo doesn’t just list them on an official website current top 10 but also reveals how often the games have sold. Here is the overview:
#1: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 38.74 million units sold
# 2: Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 34.85 million units sold
# 3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 25.71 million units sold
# 4: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 24.13 million units sold
# 5: Pokémon Sword & Shield: 22.64 million units sold
# 6: Super Mario Odyssey – 21.95 million units sold
# 7: Super Mario Party 16.48 million units sold
#8th: Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee – 13.83 million units sold
# 9: Splatoon 2 – 12.68 million units sold
# 10: Ring Fit Adventure – 12.21 million units sold

Are the “best” Switch games the most successful?
As you can see: Nintendo has had some great successes on the Switch in recent years. According to the data, more than every third Switch owner has gained Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Animal Crossing: New Horizons – the two games have also been in the charts in this country for some time.
What is striking, however, is that the list of Switch top sellers and the list of the best Switch games on Metacritic only partially match. Breath of the Wild (2nd place), Super Mario Odyssey (3rd place) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (8th place) can also be found there, but otherwise the first 10 places are from real indie pearls such as Hades, Undertale, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Celeste dominate (Source: Metacritic).
