Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker: The expansion has been postponed for a few weeks

With “Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker” the biggest expansion in the history of the MMORPG is in the starting blocks. However, Square Enix had to postpone the release for a few more weeks.

The next expansion “Endwalker” was originally supposed to be released on November 23, 2021 for the MMORPG “Final Fantasy XIV”. However, Square Enix does communicatedthat the publication should be postponed for a few more weeks.

A little more time for fine-tuning

Accordingly, “Endwalker” should be available from December 7, 2021 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac. Early Access will start on December 3, 2021. In addition, the developers around producer and director Naoki Yoshida have announced that Patch 6.01 will be released on December 21, 2021 and Patch 6.05 on January 4, 2022.

Yoshida also said a few more words about the postponement:

“The biggest factor behind the release date change is my own selfishness as a game director. Since I was put in charge of the original Final Fantasy XIV, I have continued development and operations for the past 11 years, trying to maintain my position as producer overseeing the project and director overseeing the project the development has to balance. It was my intention to work in the same way when we reached the final stages of Endwalker development.

As I mentioned in interviews and during livestreams, Endwalker will be the biggest expansion in Final Fantasy XIV history. It was a huge task, but we continued development according to plans that would allow us to make it on time for the originally planned release date, even if it would admittedly be tight until the last moment. ”

However, towards the end of development, Yoshida had noticed that he was still unsatisfied with the quality of the content. Since “Endwalker” will mark the first major conclusion in “Final Fantasy XIV” history, Yoshida wanted the team to push themselves to the limit and push their own ambitions to the limit. That’s why you take a little more time to make the final touches.

Further details on the upcoming content can also be found in the extensive livestream that Square Enix hosted that night. The launch trailer for “Endwalker” is also already available:
