Apple brings MagSafe 3 to the new MacBook Pro

Apple abandoned MagSafe five years ago when it switched to USB-C charging on new laptops. But MagSafe 3 has brought the familiar connector back to this latest lineup of MacBook Pro laptops.

Unlike the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros ditch the Touch Bar in favor of physical keys and bring back the additional HDMI and SDXC ports.

A less common addition is the new notch on top of the 120Hz refresh rate Mini LED displays with an LED indicator.

But for people with many cables, the return of MagSafe may be the most important feature.

According to Apple, the new MacBook Pro can still charge via USB-C as well. But the updated MagSafe 3 plug provides more power than before.

Without providing detailed specifications, the company says that with fast charging, the MacBook Pro can charge up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.

This means that you can leave the MagSafe 3 charger at the workplace, where you do the heavy computing work. And you can bring a smaller, less powerful charger with you on the go. This is when you use your laptop as a web browsing device.
