Devolver Digital: Indie publisher takes over three more studios

After the IPO on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange and the rumors of a possible investment by Sony Interactive Entertainment this week, those responsible at Devolver Digital announced the takeover of additional studios – a total of three in number.

The best known of the three developer companies acquired are certainly Firefly Studios, founded in 1999 in London, UK. One of the most successful brands of the English studio is the “Stronghold” series, whose offshoots have sold more than six million times around the world. The last title in the series, namely “Stronghold: Warlords”, was released in March of this year for the PC.

Those responsible rely on close cooperation

In the second studio we took over, we were dealing with the developers of Dodge Roll, who might be familiar to one or the other through “Enter the Gungeon”. Number three are the indie developers at Nerial, who are currently working on “Card Shark”, among other things. “These developers and our team looked ahead and saw that we would work together forever, so we lovingly acquired them. Mainly so that they hang out with us more, ”commented Devolver Digital on the recent acquisitions.

On the subject: PS5 and PS4: Sony apparently acquires stake in Devolver Digital

“The games and experiences these studios have planned are incredible, and each one retains its full creative autonomy granted to them throughout our relationship. Unfortunately, we won’t see Dodge Roll’s Enter the Gungeon 2 for the foreseeable future (and Devolver asked her more than once), ”concludes.
