Vive Flow..the next headset from HTC
HTC is preparing to announce the new HTC Vive Flow virtual reality headset, and thanks to the images that share it Leaker Evan Blass, we now know what the $499 glasses look like, and they begin shipping in November.
The company was teasing the glasses using the Go with the Flow logo along with several suggested lifestyle images. And that’s without offering consumer glasses that were developed under the code name Hue.
HTC Vive Flow is just one of the company’s attempts to regain market share in consumer virtual reality. The company is also developing a new Metaverse-like service called Viveport Verse.
The service is designed to provide real-time interaction across virtual and non-virtual reality devices, giving people the ability to attend events, gather in online spaces, and create their own content.
You will be able to create your own 3D avatar and explore a variety of events. But the space also houses an NFT showroom and user-generated content is coming soon.
It seems that you will not need a virtual reality device to visit the Vivepoint Verse. The service is compatible with desktops, laptops, mobile devices, tablets and virtual reality glasses.
It’s not clear how this new Viveport Verse space differs from the enterprise-focused Vive Sync experience. And it looks like Viveport Verse could be more like a series of virtual worlds of several sorts, perhaps like Facebook’s Horizon Worlds, rather than Sync virtual meeting spaces for work.
The glasses are intended to be a media consumption device with access to some games. However, it will not ship with a controller and is less powerful than the Oculus Quest 2.

It is difficult to tell if the large yellow spots on the front of the head glasses are transparent. But if you look closely, it looks like there may be cameras built into the front of the device.
The pictures show that the glasses are wired to some kind of tube-shaped device, which may provide a little extra power to the glasses (similar to the original Magic Leap).
While another set of photos show that it has an internal processing and a cooling fan. Another group suggests that the tube may just be a carrying case. There is even one picture showing that it is connected to the phone.
The new glasses closely resemble HTC’s Project Proton, a prototype mixed reality device the company unveiled in February 2020. It’s unclear if the Vive Flow is the final retail development for Project Proton.
