Hangar 13: “Cthulhu x Saints Row” project discontinued
According to recent reports, the “Mafia 3” makers of Hangar 13 were working on an unannounced title that came under the project name “Volt” and was recently discontinued. The losses for the publisher Take-Two Interactive are said to be in the double-digit million range.
In the past few years, Hangar 13, the studio responsible for the action title “Mafia 3”, has been associated with a new project that has been in the works since 2017.
As sources close to Take-Two Interactive are said to have confirmed to the industry magazine Bloomberg, we should no longer expect the release of the title, which was carried out internally under the project name “Volt”. According to Bloomberg, “Volt” was reminiscent of a mixture of the “Saints Row” series on the one hand and the universe of “Cthulhu” on the other. The magazine also reports that Take-Two Interactive decided to stop work on “Volt”.
Losses in the tens of millions?
Not a very favorable decision for the US publisher. In the recently published annual report for the quarter ended September 30, 2021, Take-Two Interactive points out that the group has “an impairment loss of 53 million US dollars in connection with the company’s decision to continue developing an unannounced Title not to continue ”had to put up with.
