Elden Ring: Technically convincing? Performance check for the PS4 version

Thanks to the closed network test, selected players will have the opportunity this weekend to plunge into the world of “Elden Ring” and take a first, detailed look at the new work from From Software.

As is well known, the role-playing game is not only released for the PC and consoles of the current generation. The now-aged systems in the form of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One are also supplied with “Elden Ring”. But is the PlayStation 4 implementation of “Elden Ring” also technically pleasing? A question that, according to Youtuber “Lance McDonald”, can be answered with a resounding “yes”.

Almost always smooth 30FPS and manageable loading times

As “Lance McDonald” reports, he already had the opportunity to play the PlayStation 4 version of “Elden Ring” and can describe the porting to Sony’s now eight-year-old console as absolutely successful. According to this, the fantasy adventure on the PlayStation 4 is usually displayed in fluid 30 frames per second, with the frame rate only dropping slightly in particularly hectic moments or scenes in which there is a lot going on on the screen.

The fact that the loading times on the PlayStation 4 are surprisingly short is also praised. If you bless the temporal once, the re-entry into the game takes place depending on the distance to the last checkpoint in a period of between 15 and 22 seconds. Further details on the technical implementation of “Elden Ring” on the PlayStation 4 as well as impressions from the current game events on Sony’s last-gen console can be found in the attached video.

After a short-term postponement, “Elden Ing” will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S from February 25, 2022. Since a free next-gen upgrade is supported, you can upgrade your copy to the next-gen version at a later date after purchasing it for the PS4 or Xbox One at no additional cost.
