The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, presented a comprehensive Support Plan projected for three years for the State of Michoacán, one of the entities hardest hit by organized crime.

In this plan that the Mexican government intends to promote, it is planned to support the areas of safety, health, education and well-being, among others.

“Michoacán is part of national history and that is why we must help it,” said the Mexican president who led the meeting where his cabinet officials detailed the plan with the actions to be followed between 2021 and 2024.

Luis Cresencio Sandoval, Secretary of National Defense, affirmed that organized crime has kidnapped various municipalities of the entity, In response to this, he announced that there will be a greater military presence and National Guard barracks will be installed.

He assured that currently more than 2,000 members of the Army are deployed to reinforce security and with this it has been achieved that one of the criminal groups of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) retreated towards the limits with the State of Jalisco.

For his part, José Rafael Ojeda Durán, Secretary of the Navy, pointed out that They will reinforce surveillance actions in Michoacan ports, especially in Lázaro Cárdenas, and announced that 100 members of the unit will arrive in November, while another 300 will be integrated in the first quarter of 2022.

Meanwhile, Javier May, Secretary of Welfare, pointed out that social programs will continue to be distributed among populations such as the elderly, single mothers, people with disabilities, as well as children and young people.

The Secretary of Education, Delfina Gómez, announced that the state authorities approved the return to face-to-face classes starting next Monday, so more than 12,800 basic education schools must return to classrooms with at least 50% capacity.

He explained that the plan has proposed generate mechanisms so that the resources destined for teachers are delivered directly to them and thus avoid that the budget is diverted or that teachers do not receive their payments.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed his support for the state governor, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla. “Let’s work together. He is going to represent, as was the will of the people, the people of Michoacán, but he is also going to be my representative in Michoacán ”, he indicated.

He noted that his Government It will fight crime and asserted that the security policy “is well defined”, which is why it ruled out declaring war on organized crime. “That is already behind us because that, in addition to being inhumane, was a resounding failure, that is not the strategy,” he settled.

Finally, he assured that he will guarantee peace and tranquility in Michoacán and for this he will be supported with well-being programs.

For more than a decade, Mexico is going through a wave of violence led by clashes between drug cartels and the authorities.

The bloody clashes between criminal groups such as the CJNG and La Nueva Familia Michoacana (LNFM,) with bullets, grenades and explosives detonated with drones, have caused since December 2020 a serious humanitarian crisis in the Michoacan municipality of Aguililla, which has caused a exodus of inhabitants.
