Snapchat is more alive than ever and Lens Studio is the proof you need
[ad_1]
Snapchat continues to point out that, as time goes by, communication will become more and more visual. The company that popularized the stories and the filters in the videos are now betting on normalizing augmented reality. Yes, the “lenses” that transform objects in near real time are a technology that we should not lose track of.
We have already tested the viralization of glasses and augmented reality on at least two occasions. The first was when we saw our contacts on all sides opening their mouths and wearing a “puppy” tongue and ears.. The other was when we all underwent a “caricature” of our faces and the result moved the mouth and the eyes at the same time as us. You remember?
Snapchat’s augmented reality isn’t even limited to your social network anymore. The platform has teamed up with other brands to create huge ad campaigns that only require a camera from a phone. In fact, the forced distancing from the pandemic led companies to enter augmented reality so that their customers could “try on” their products without leaving their homes. Snapchat had the mastery of technology and the right platform.
The home office also increased the demand for augmented reality. Snapchat found out, came forward and created a platform where users can choose one of their lenses and export it to video calling programs like Zoom. Tired of putting on makeup? Do you need to show up with the camera on but don’t want to be seen? Use lens from them and matter fixed. Snapchat is out of Snapchat and you may not have realized it.
For now, according to Snapchat account, the future of augmented reality rests with the users themselves. For this reason, the company has designed a completely free software with everything necessary for anyone to create their lenses and interact with the community. This program is called Lens Studio and it has the same philosophy as Photoshop… that is, the software allows one to imagine an augmented reality experience and presents the tools to you in a simple way so that you can create it. There is no weird programming or commands here, if you don’t want them.
How does Lens Studio work?
SnapChat invited us to a workshop for the use of Lens Studio and although it was a brief “tour” through the software, We must say that creating lenses to build community does not look complicated at all. They are just layers, shapes, and basic commands. With a little patience, practice, and a lot of imagination, one could create the next viral phenomenon without being tied to Snapchat.
That is precisely the great success of Lens Studio: allows you to stop being a passive user to become a producer of experiences And by the way, it doesn’t force you to stay on the platform. You can take your lens and play with it by uploading your videos to any social network you want. Did you like the concept of opening your mouth and having a tongue appear but hate that it is that of a dog? Open Lens Studio and change it. Don’t settle.

Snapchat has managed to transform itself and is currently aware that stories, the form of communication that they popularized, have a natural evolution: augmented reality. It is no longer about making up images but about modifying objects in real time, making things appear out of nowhere.
Augmented reality is the territory of Snapchat thanks to its lenses and little by little social networks normalize its use as at some point they did with the stories and filters.
