The former leader and narco-guerrilla of the extinct Revolutionary Forces of Colombia (FARC) Rodrigo Granda He was arrested upon arrival in Mexico City, accused of one of the intellectual authors of the kidnapping and murder of Cecilia Cubas Gusinky, a 31-year-old businesswoman, daughter of the former president of that country Raúl Cubas Grau and former senator Mirta Gusinky.

Cecilia was kidnapped on September 21, 2004 by members of the armed wing of the Free Homeland Party, who later called themselves the Paraguayan People’s Army (EPP).

The body of the businesswoman who was pregnant was found in a grave in February 2005 during a raid in the city of Ñemby.

Forensic analysis determined that she was tortured and buried still alive by her captors, who held her hostage for about five months.

After months of investigations, it was determined that the kidnapping counted on the advice of the now extinct guerrilla of the FARC, to which Rodrigo Granda belonged.

Granda traveled to Mexico invited by the Labor Party (PT) to attend the international seminar “The Parties and a New Society” to be held on October 21, 22 and 23 and to which he was going as a representative of the Communes Party of Colombia together with Rodrigo Londoño.

The senator Carlos Antonio Lozada, from the Comunes Party, He warned through a message on Twitter that Granda, 72, had been arrested in Mexico.

“Urgently, Rodrigo Granda was detained in Mexico, even though he left the country with the authorization of JEP (Special Jurisdiction for Peace), they inform us that the government of @IvanDuque asked Interpol to activate a red circular while he was flying to Mexico, in clear violation of the Peace Agreement that they want to tear apart, ”Lozada wrote.

The JEP is a court created to judge crimes committed during the war in Colombia and that was born from the historic peace agreement signed in 2016 between the Government of Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC guerrillas, which ended a half-century armed conflict.

Meanwhile, the party, also on Twitter, said they expected a pronouncement from the Iván Duque Government on why the red circular against Granda “was reactivated while he was flying to Mexico, with @JEP_Colombia authorization, to attend an international seminar.”

Granda left Colombia without problems, but upon arriving in Mexico he was arrested after an Interpol red card was activated against him.

According to Interpol, a red notice is a request to law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and provisionally detain a person pending extradition, surrender or similar legal action.
